Melanie Minnix

STATEMENT
Pastel has given me an immediacy with which to connect with the magic moments I come across in my travels.  I am inspired and challenged not just to capture an image, but to absorb and interpret the scene through my own experiences and senses- to take the viewer on a journey of rich pigments, heightened hues, the play of light and shadow, and the movement of shapes and lines and emotions. Melanie Minnix, originally from Ohio, is a long time resident of Oak Park, Il. She has exhibited in both open call and juried exhibitions both in Illinois as well as Michigan. She is an artist member of the Chicago Pastel Painters, a member of the Great Lakes Pastel Society, a member of the Chicago Alliance of Visual Artists, an artist member of the Oak Park Art League, and a member of the Oak Park Arts Council.

Melanie Minnix is a long time resident of Oak Park, Il. Having had no prior art training or art education, she began taking classes at the Oak Park Art League in 2016. She has participated in numerous exhibits at OPAL and held a solo exhibition in 2020 at Forest Park Bank, Forest Park, IL sponsored by the Oak Park Arts Council. She also has exhibited her work in the annual juried “Her Voice” shows at Expressions Gallery in Oak Park 2019-21. Melanie is an artist member of the Oak Park Art League, a member of the Oak Park Arts Council, and a member of Chicago Pastel Painters.
