STATEMENT
My goal as a photographer is to encounter the world around me, to perceive it, to capture its image, and to process that image as personal expression. Photography is a reality-based medium, and I feel it is best used straightforwardly, to capture the essence of the subject, whether it be a portrait, a landscape, an object, or an event. I fill the frame by positioning the camera at a specific place, and make the exposure at a specific time. That image file becomes the raw material for the final image, which may exist only digitally or be exported onto printing paper. When successful, that final image says something about the world and my perceptions of it as beauty and truth, not without mystery.
